How to Clean Siding with a Pressure Washer: A STIHL pressure washer can be a powerful partner when cleaning dirt and grime off your home’s siding.
STIHL pressure washers are a good option for cleaning the outside of your home, using 80 percent less water than a garden hose and with far more power. It’s very important that you use the right nozzle when cleaning house siding or you can quickly damage it. The yellow 15-degree nozzle is the best choice for siding and similar surfaces.
Tips:
When cleaning siding, you need to start at the top and work your way down. Keep the nozzle a consistent distance between 3 to 4 feet from the surface you are cleaning and keep the nozzle moving to avoid causing damage to the surface.
Depending on the job you are doing, all-purpose detergent is very effective in removing hard-to-clean mildew and grime. First, attach the black low-pressure detergent nozzle. Then apply the detergent, starting at the bottom and working your way up.
Before rinsing, remove the injector from the detergent. Replace the black detergent nozzle with a high pressure nozzle and rinse in the opposite direction, from top to bottom to avoid streaking. Do not allow the detergent to dry on the surface you are cleaning. Be sure to thoroughly rinse the entire area. With proper maintenance, you can add years to the life of your property.
NOTE: Some siding manufacturers do not recommend using a pressure washer to clean their siding products. Contact your siding manufacturer for proper cleaning instructions.
